The province has provided Health Sciences North with a one time capital grant of over 21 million dollars for a new Learners’ Centre.

Sudbury MPP Glenn Thibeault made the announcement on Friday and the 28 thousand square foot facility will be built as an add on to HSN and feature
classrooms, lecture space, work station and on-call rooms.

But the focal point will be the Simulation Lab designed to replicate medical settings like an Emergency or Operating Room.

President and CEO of HSN, Dominic Giroux says construction should begin in March and they’re hopeful it will be completed by mid-2019.

The entire cost of the project is $26,289,800.

The community is required to cover the balance and the HSN Foundation says they are just over one million shy of the 5.4 million dollar goal.
