A four million dollar investment from the province will help bring an new year-round recreation complex to Greater Sudbury.

Sudbury MPP Glenn Thibeault made the announcement through the 2018 Provincial Budget in partnership with the city and Rainbow District School Board as the facility will be built at Lasalle Secondary School.

Thibeault says the facility, from his understanding, could cost 3-5 million dollars and will be named after late city councillor Fabio Belli.

Belli’s wife Susan was on hand to speak about how this facility will continue her husbands dream and legacy.

However they are not they only group looking to build in Sudbury.

The Sudbury District Sports Club say they have secured private funding to build a similar facility and are securing land with the French Catholic School Board.

Sudbury MPP Glenn Thibeault says it’s not out of the question for their project to move forward or join forces.

Thibeault says the project will go along with a new elementary school built at Lasalle Secondary School and construction could potentially begin in 2019.
