Just 50 km outside of Sudbury there is a place for soldiers and veterans to learn how to farm, gain skills to get back in the workforce, but most importantly help them deal with PTSD.

Quartz Ridge Sanctuary in Hagar, is a not-for-profit charity farm has been open for a couple years…more than a dozen volunteers have come through, some from Niagara Falls, some from Montreal.

Director, Eric Coupal says depending on the individual needs, programs can go from 6-8 weeks where they will care for animals and bond with people who are going through similar circumstances.

Coupal says people who have left the farm have often adopted neglected animals of their own.

Quartz Ridge depends on community funding and Coupal says every little bit counts, even if someone wants to just volunteer their time.
