Saturday was a jam packed day full of amazing causes! The weather was beautiful, so you best believe I had the top down all day in the 2018 Mazda MX-5 from Palladino Mazda. The excitement began at Kivi Park with the 16th Annual Brain Tumour Walk, which funds support programs, services, education, and research. There was such an incredible turnout of couples, independent racers, and families all out to help make a difference. The race began with a short speech by Mayor Brian Bigger as well as a heartwarming address by the relative of a brain tumor survivor. After the send-off I began to make my way to R.L Beattie Public School for their annual Fun Fair.

Back in my home town, school fundraisers generally attract the families of students and perhaps family friends. Imagine my surprise to see the crowd which had gathered to help support this local public school! With pony rides, penny tables, carnival games, Science North experiments, a mini gymnastics play area and more, I began to see why school fundraisers were such a city-wide attraction. Not only was the outdoor playground utilized for the event, but the gymnasium, and individual classrooms each had unique entertainment. After handing out some prizes from Toppers Pizza and gift cards to Dairy Queen, I headed to Downtown Mini-Putt for Wishes.

Downtown Mini-Putt for Wishes is held in support of Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario. In this unique event the ‘course’ is downtown Sudbury while the individual holes are found within local businesses, making this fundraiser a true community effort. I got to meet the lovely organizer Julie Anne whose son was a previous recipient of the Make-A-Wish Foundation at this year’s event headquarters Standing Room Only (S.R.O). I had a blast strolling through local businesses and working on my putting skills while handing out prizes from Sudbury Auto Collision and gift cards to the New Sudbury Center. Thanks for another amazing weekend Sudbury!
