Good news for the Highway 69 four laning project.

Band members from the Shawanaga First Nation recently voted in favour of a settlement with the provincial government that could lead to further talks needed to continue the highway expansion.

While not directly connected to the current work, Sudbury M-P-P Glenn Thibeault says in the end, this deal will help complete the remaining 82 kilometers of the 4-laning project.

Thibeault says it’s these types of negotiations with First Nations that have to take place.

Band members recently voted in favour of a 4-million dollar settlement with the provincial government for lands acquired back in the 1930’s along with the present value of a 30 acre piece of property.
