A group of post-secondary students are competing in a design and building match which also promotes awareness about hunger and helps the local food bank.

All four three-dimensional structures for the CANstruction Competition, are built from cans of food.

The structures are on display at the New Sudbury Shopping Centre, until Saturday.

Sudbury Food Bank Executive Director, Dan Xilon, says judges will determine the winners.

All $8,000 worth of food will be donated to the food bank.

The teams include first and second year Civil Engineering students from Cambrian, along with their academic faculty, and students from Laurentian University’s School of Architecture.

The public is encouraged to vote on their favourite for the “Public’s Choice” award, on the food bank’s website: www.sudburyfoodbank.ca.

Voting must take place before 11pm Thursday March 12..
