New Democrat Claude Gravelle is working on a new tactic to get his national dementia strategy passed by the Canadian government.

The Nickel Belt M-P presented the first hour of reading of Bill C-356 last Friday.

Prior to this, Gravelle worked tirelessly first to create the legislation and then with Minister of Health, Rona Ambrose, on specific amendments she and the Conservatives wanted.

After he read details of the strategy in the House of Commons last week, Gravelle says it was clear during the debate, that the Harper government wasn’t going to support the bill.

Gravelle says so many families, dementia sufferers and their care-givers need this strategy.

He is now asking all Canadians to write a letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the federal Minister of Health, demanding the dementia strategy be supported.

The second hour of reading is set for early May.
