Here’s another reason to have a fun, entertaining night out at O-L-G BINGO….part of the money goes to charity.

Last week, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (O-L-G) marked $100-million raised for a total of 1,800 charities across the province.

That was collected from 31 sites in the province since the O-L-G started its charitable gaming in 2005.

Local O-L-G Charity Coordinator, Richard Schwar says the Boardwalk Gaming Centres in Sudbury and Val Caron are able to give back almost $2-million a year to the local community.

Schwar explains that charities provide volunteers, who help with customer service at the O-L-G sites.

In turn, the O-L-G is able to provide those non-profit groups with partial proceeds.

The funding is distributed based on the charity’s commitment.

Schwar says they’ve helped 150 charities since charitable gaming started in Greater Sudbury.

Those agencies include the Sudbury Food Bank, the Elgin Street Mission, as well as health & welfare and educational charities.
