Another huge step forward in getting a key piece of medical equipment for Sudbury.

The Northeast Local Health Integration Network has put it’s support behind a submission calling for the funding for a PET Scanner suite at Health Sciences North.

The cost to renovate space at HSN for this cancer diagnostic tool is $4-million.

The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care announced last December that it would provide $1.6-million in operating funding, but it would be up to the community and the hospital to raise the capital funds.

So far, $2.2 million has been raised with still another $1.8 million needed to reach the goal.
