More work needs to be done, but there is some encouraging news when it comes to Sudbury’s air quality.

A new report by Clean Air Sudbury shows the air we breathe continues to improve…thanks in large part to Vale’s $1-billion Clean AER project that is expected to see an 85% reduction in sulphur dioxide emissions by 2018.

Clean Air Sudbury co-chair Marc Gascon says the report is based on data collected on a number of pollutants from 2008 to 2014.

The report concludes Greater Sudbury’s air quality is better than what’s found in many other cities in Ontario and the air we breathe can be described as very good or good 94% of the time.
