Daly: Tell me the type of person who would have a great time at one of your shows and then tell me the kind of person who would not have a good time at one of your shows.

Brock: I mean we’re a nerd rock band so we’ve encouraged people to come to our shows in full costume and cosplay. And we want people to get involved in our show. We don’t want people kind of sitting against the back of a wall. So someone who would have a good time is someone who is nerdy and is looking to kind of get their wrists wet with out music.

Daly: And someone who would not have a good time at your show?

Brock: Well I guess that leaves everyone else. Someone who has been dragged there – there’s always one of those people. No matter what you do or how good your band is you just can’t convert someone who would rather be anywhere else besides seeing music in a dive bar.

Daly: Yeah you get those snobs with their arms crossed and that impressed me attitude

Brock: Exactly

Daly: How did you guys all get together to start making music?

Brock: Ian and I used to play in bands and we’d like swap shows. Then it got to point where various members of our bands decided to do something else. So Ian and I joined forces and we’ve been playing together for three or four years now.

We met our drummer, Dafydd, basically because we had a drummer who couldn’t make our UK tour. And our booking agent asked friends, one of whom was Dafydd. Before we knew it we were landing in the UK, doing in a couple practises and going out on a full tour. It just worked out so well we just said; fuck it, dude you have to be in the band from now on. It worked out that well.

Daly: You’ve already toured Europe?

Brock: Yeah our running total now is 16 Countries we’re just unlocking more of the map.

Daly: You’ve already been to Europe but it will be your first time playing some stops in Northern Ontario? You were saying you haven’t played Timmins before.

Brock: Yeah, I guess Timmins is a stop that wrongfully so gets skipped by a lot of bands.

Daly: It does, it’s well off the beaten path.

Brock: It is but we’ve found that’s sort of where the best secrets are. If the Legend Of Zelda has taught me anything it’s that you have to go off the beaten path to get to the good stuff.

Daly: I love the Zelda reference because there’s a lot of nerd and geek culture references in the band so who is the biggest nerd in the band?

Brock: It’s probably Ian. Only because in typical singer fashion he has the most free time on his hands apparently. He’s well versed in both Star Trek and Star Wars he can probably tell you anything about any either of those. He still plays video games, he reads, he’s just Mr. Credibility in the band when it comes to all things nerdy. I mean Dafydd and I are also nerdy but unfortunately being nerdy doesn’t pay the bills so we pick up the slack.

Daly: We’ll keep with the video games, what in your opinion has the best video game soundtrack?

Brock: There was a game, I think it was Fatal Frame, maybe it was the new Doom Soundtrack, they’re all done by the same guy. And it’s just so squishy and rocky and has this really aggressive rock sound to it. Usually video games are bleeps and bloops so that one really impressed me.

Daly: I’ve noticed lately they all seem to have the Mass Effect soundtrack where it’s these big ominous tones throughout the whole thing

Brock: Yeah it’s almost like the video game version of the Inception soundtrack, at a certain point all movies had these big droning accents so it’s cool to see video games do something a little differently.

Daly: On you Facebook page it says this is your first time touring Canada in two years, why the break?

Brock: I think as much as we’d like to make a good go of it in Canada, there’s like 20 cities tops that our band can play at before we are just the band that shows up every two weeks at these places. So for our band to get taken seriously we made the decision early on to see as much of the world as possible and unfortunaely that means less time at home and not more but  it does feel good after two years to finally go back.
