Sudbury MPP Glenn Thibeault was back in his home riding today after an emotional couple days in Toronto.

After tearing up earlier this week when speaking about the effect being brought into the by-election scandal has had on his family, a P-C politician accused him of “crocodile tears.”

Thibeault wouldn’t comment on if he will run again saying the next election is still a ways away, but did say a thick skin is needed.

He says he is encouraged by support he has received from community members and won’t be stepping down.

Opposition parties continue to call on Thibeault to resign or step aside until the investigation into bribery charges against two Ontario Liberals is complete.

Now they are also bringing forward a private members bill that would make it illegal to solicit or receive a bribe in exchange for seeking a nomination or running for office.

Currently under the Election Act, it’s an offence to offer a bribe but not necessarily to accept one.
