Sudbury will be the 11th franchise for the National Basketball League of Canada.

Dario Zulich made the announcement today adding a pro franchise to Sudbury Wolves Sports and Entertainment that already owns the Sudbury Wolves and Sudbury Spartans.

NBL Canada Commissioner David Magley says with the ownership in place, it was an easy choice.

Magley says there are teams in the league with players from Michigan State, North Carolina, Kansas and other NCAA schools, there are NBA draft picks and CIS All-Canadians.

He says its a fast professional game.

Zulich, who played basketball at the University of Western Ontario and his daughter plays for Laurentian University says it was an exciting day for him.

NBL Canada is in their sixth season of operation and the Sudbury ownership group are confident there will be professional basketball in Northern Ontario when the 7th season begins in December.

The team still doesn’t have a name but will look to establish one shortly by putting the call out to the community.
