Greater Sudbury is now under a severe thunderstorm watch.

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail.

The cluster of thunderstorms is over upper Michigan and is expected to move into the Sault early this afternoon.

It is expected to hit the Sudbury and Manitoulin area later this afternoon into the early evening.
