It will be a while before the backlog of parcels and mail is cleared and delivered after five weeks of rotating strike by Canada Post workers who are anxious to get a new contract after almost a year of waiting. That means Ontario Works benefit cheques will have to be picked up in person. Here’s what you need to know…

Recipients of Ontario Works are asked to pick up their December benefit in person due to the recent Canada Post labour dispute and don’t forget to bring your photo i.d.
Benefits paid through direct bank deposit will be processed as usual.
If you usually receive your cheque by mail, you can pick up your benefit between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the following dates:
Thursday, November 29, in Provincial Boardroom A, Main Floor, 199 Larch St., Sudbury
Friday, November 30, Provincial Boardroom B, Main Floor, 199 Larch St., Sudbury
Monday, December 3, 9th Floor, 199 Larch St., Sudbury
Cheques for vendors and direct payments to landlords will be distributed by mail.
Clients are asked to contact City of Greater Sudbury Social Services 705-675-2411 for more information.
