Robert Tunney’s boat being towed by friend Dan Goulet.

Friends helped Robert get his boat back to camp.

In the centre of the circle is the 18-foot boat Robert Tunney was driving on Friday afternoon and as a storm brews on the horizon. About an hour later they four people on that boat had to be rescued when a storm suddenly swamped the boat.

This is an amazing story of survival.  Friday afternoon on Lake Wanapitei, a massive storm whipped up 8 foot rolling waves capsizing a boat with three adults and a five year old boy.  The storm came up suddenly and without weather warning and for Captain Robert Tunney, keeping his friends and son calm was top priority.  Mell and Chris called Robert to tell the story.
