The city says there is emergency child care available for essential workers who have school aged children.

This program is for essential workers who are not able to accommodate their school aged children’s learning or care at home…the city supports child-care operators providing the service however parents may still have to pay a partial fee based on before and after school rates.

Workers who require emergency child-care are encouraged to verify whether they meet the provincial eligibility requirements by visiting COVID-19: provincewide shutdown.

If they meet these requirements, they can contact an emergency child-care provider from the list below to register their child(ren) for care.

A limited number of spots are available, and priority will be given to children already registered within the program.

 

Services will operate Monday to Friday until March 31, 2021, with varying hours based on each centre. The City will reassess providing Emergency Child Care after March 31, based on community need and available funding.
